This hanging pot has a reservoir for excess water, which can be emptied from the hole in the bottom by slightly tilting the pot. It is made from Jesmonite, a gypsum-based material, complimented by natural colorants. Venetian Red was used for this pot, an earth clay pigment rich in iron oxide. This warm color has been used since prehistoric times, most notably in cave paintings.
